AS TEX - 240D RIPSTOP WATERPROOF BREATHABLE 3-LAYER FABRIC

Lightweight wicking protective scrim
Lighter than every other 'Motorcycle Fabric', but heavier than almost all 'Outdoor Fabrics', this unique material is the perfect companion for the Adventure Rider looking for a real answer to the strength vs. weight equation. It's the perfect balance of strength and weight.
Unique to Adventure Spec the face fabric of this lightweight 3 layer material is woven in a ripstop pattern from the toughest 240 Denier Nylon thread available (Nylon 6-6).
Sandwiched between our Ripstop 240D face fabric and the protective inner 'scrim' is our own design of AS waterproof membrane selected specifically for lightweight adventure motorcycling use.
With a 30000mm hydrostatic head it is 100% non air permeable and fully breathable. It is also widely chemical and solvent resistant, has excellent odour barrier properties and resists failure in the event of stretching.
Because it's a Hydrophillic PU membrane (rather than a stretched PTFE like eVent or GoreTex) the wetter it gets inside the more it 'breathes' regardless of how warm you are. This works particularly well in long periods of riding in cold weather.
Due to its 100% wind resistance we can use single layers of fabric in high windspeed areas keeping weight down and breathability high.

Abrasion resistant softshell, it's not possible is it?
It is if you're the first people to weave in Du Pont™ Kevlar® to create a special fabric unique to Adventure Spec.
Softshell is a 3 layer fabric, in this case our face fabric has Kevlar woven into it to create a 3D effect allowing it to pass the abrasion requirements of CE EN17092 Zone 1 (high impact areas) to an A rating.
Behind our face fabric is a breathable and water resistant membrane allowing the material to stay surprisingly watertight in light rain, and this is backed by a soft brushed inner face creating that comfortable feeling that only a softshell fleece can provide.

If you're looking to add extra strength and abrasion resistance to the face fabric of a lightweight 100% waterproof breathable material what better addition could there be than Du Pont™ Kevlar®? Another Adventure Spec first.
Created in a 3D state the fabric is designed to let the Kevlar hit the ground first and give you and your garment the best chance of experiencing minimal abrasive damage without the usual compromises of multi-layer materials that traditionally compromise weight and breathability.
This fabric has developed by, and is unique to Adventure Spec.

The outer face of this Ballistic 3-layer fabric is woven from the toughest 1000 Denier Nylon thread available (Nylon 6-6) and a single layer passes the abrasion requirements of CE EN17092 Zone 1 (high impact areas) to an AA rating.

Mid Layer:
High Temperature 100% Waterproof Hyperlon® heat resistant to 250 Degrees C for 10 seconds

Washability:
500 Washes
This fabric is 100% waterproof, repeatably washable, heat resistant to 250+ degrees (think exhaust leg burns) and slightly sticky (for leg and knee contact with the bike). It has also passed CE abrasion requirements of CE EN17092 to an AA rating.
To manufacture this unique fabric we take a waterproof and heat resistant Hyperlon® outer/inner (resistant to 200+ degrees) and use it to surround a Du Pont™ Kevlar® core for abrasion and heat resistance (to 400+ degrees).
The result of these chemical blends and manufacturing process is a unique material never seen before on a motorcycling garment that you can wash forever, won't let you burn and won't wear through if you crash.

The ultimate through-flow of air for the most hardcore of applications. Adventure Spec military spec low snag mesh has made it through multiple Malle Moto Dakar Rallies.
Creating a mesh tough enough to flow huge amounts of air, remain seriously abrasion resistant and not snag on foliage (and bushes) is no easy task. We chose to use the toughest of Nylons (Nylon 6-6), a low profile weave pattern unique to Adventure Spec and a special finishing process to create our 'Military Spec' AS Mesh.
We knew we'd got it right when we watched Lyndon Poskitt crash multiple times over two Dakars and got the materials back in one piece, but it was still really exciting to see this material pass the abrasion requirements of CE EN17092 Zone 2 (body areas) to an AA rating meaning that it was safe for road use too.
This fabric is used extensively throughout our ranges of adventure motorcycling clothing and is also used behind all the vent zips of our CE EN17092 Certified garments.
