THE STORY OF ADVENTURE SPEC HARD PARTS
You’re not going to get very far adventure riding without an adventure bike.
Right now, the adventure rider is spoilt for choice as manufacturers wake up to the fact that you and I know where the real fun is to be had on 2 wheels.
No matter what the marketing guys want you to believe, wheel an adventure bike out of the showroom and as close to the unicorn you might think it is, if you want to get off the tarmac and onto the dirt there's some key modifications you are going to want to make.
The motorcycle aftermarket parts market is big.
You’ve got a lot of choices.
We probably aren’t going to be able to satisfy you in all areas of your bike build.
Adventure Spec is interested in lightweight motorcycle adventure so that’s where we’ve invested all our time and energy developing Hard Parts.
You can broadly boil this down to these areas:
1: PROTECTION
Hard Parts that are designed to protect your bike’s essentials. The stuff that’s going to absolutely ruin your day (or expedition) if it breaks in the middle of nowhere.
2: LUGGAGE CARRYING
Side and rear luggage racks that make loading soft luggage easier and provide more stability especially on smaller bikes with less mounting points. Our racks keep your luggage away from your plastics, create a solid grab handle and help add extra protection to your bike.
3: NAVIGATION
The Dakar Rally has spawned a movement of adventure riders fitting pro-level rally towers to their adventure bikes. They look fantastic, but they are expensive, especially when they break.
You’ll be hard pushed to find someone who can repair carbon fibre in the middle of nowhere.
Our Mini Fairings are designed to be a simple bolt on solution that provides you with plenty of mounting points for your phone / GPS etc, as well as some protection from wind. Think of it as a ‘rally tower lite’.
WE MAKE HARD PARTS FOR THESE BIKES
Honda CRF250/300L Rally
The original light weight round the world machine. A little underpowered, a little soft on suspension, but super reliable, cheap to run and incredibly capable. As long as you are not in a rush.
Honda CRF450L
Not the 250L’s big brother. More like its wild cousin. The long distance adventure enduro bike.
KTM 450/500 EXC
Loved by enduro racers, rally riders and more recently adventure riders looking for maximum performance in the lightest package. The most capable ADV bike out there. Look after it and it will look after you.
YAMAHA T700 / WR
If you are Pol Terres you can ride this thing like a trials bike. For the rest of us it’s a brilliant balance between off road capability and long distance comfort and reliability.
KTM 790/890
Radically different to the competition. Rally style low tanks provide stability and make it feel much lighter than it is. The choice of the tech loving ADV rider.
DUCATI DESERT X
The best looking ADV bike out there? Feels surprisingly light for its actual weight and power. An absolute monster on the road that uses clever tech to help you off road.
GASGAS 700 / KTM 690 / HUSQVARNA 701
The red, orange, white unicorn. As close to the perfect all rounder that you’re going to get. Munch the road miles to the trails, then use the low weight and masses of power to get up the rough stuff.
