Hi
A few weeks ago I was out riding with Shaun in the Northumbria Hills here in the UK.
We only met 2 people all day and one of those people, a walker with her partner, managed to sum up what we try to do at Adventure Spec in a simple, out of the blue sentence.
It really took me by surprise.
The day did not start well
Shaun had invited me to try out his Montessa 4Ride, a bike I LOVE the look of but couldn't figure out if it would be a good fit for the riding I do.
It is the very essence of Light Is Right.
Unfortunately it also wouldn't start.
Bummer.
So I hopped onto Shaun's 701LR and he opted for the meaty 1200 GS.
The roads were icy, the trails muddy, we just about managed to stay upright and made it to the top of the Ingram Valley where I proceeded to 'pap' the life out of Shaun in our new 'top secret' Gravel Jacket and Pant.
I was wearing the new Singletrack Jacket in Blue and Linesman Pant and was getting busy with my giant 70-200mmm lens.
As I was shouting instructions at Shaun... "gaze into the distance like you are on an epic adventure"... a couple of walkers appeared out of nowhere.
And so began the friendly chat, each of us trying to figure out if the other is friend of foe.
"We saw your camera and had a bet on that you were doing some kind of motorbike shoot"
Uncannily close.
I explained that I was shooting the gear we were wearing for Adventure Spec.
She looked us up and down.
"Oh, I get it, so you guys make walking gear that you can also wear on the bike?"
Boom.
This lady in her Alpkit insulated outdoors jacket had just nailed exactly what Adventure Spec is all about.
Outdoor gear for adventure motorcyclists.
When she looked at us she didn't see motorcyclists.
She saw two guys out in the hills wearing gear just like her, but standing next to dirt bikes.
I'm sharing this little story with you not just because it tickled me, but because we are launching our new Blue Singletrack Jacket.
This jacket has been a staple for Adventure Spec over the last 3 years and really embodies the idea of a highly technical outdoor jacket that is at home being walked up or ridden down a hill.
Our first version was light grey.
Our second was black.
This one is blue and designed to work well with every other item of clothing we make.
Chris pairs his Singletrack with his Mongolia Jacket and Pants.
I've probably used up as much of your attention as I'm going to get today, but I'd love you to take deeper look here and find out all about its waterproof hydrostatic head, breathability, kevlar panels and unique feature in the motorcycling world - a hood.
I wear mine over my Supershirt and Baltic Insulated Jacket while riding in the cold, and over a T-shirt while walking with the kids.
I think you will find you use it for far more than just motorcycling.
