Earlier this summer I was at The Lightweight Adventurers Festival here in England.
We won’t talk about the weather (it was ☔️ challenging).
We will talk about the GasGas ES700 and KTM 690 that got a lot of attention.
Both were kitted out with the prototypes of our new Hard Parts.
And both had me on my toes all weekend answering the same question.
"When will the new Hard Parts be available to buy?"
Officially they are called the KTM 690 / Husqvarna 701 / GasGas ES700 Hard Parts, but can we all agree to just refer them to the ‘Unicorn Hard Parts’ for the moment please?
Really, we know we are behind the curve making gear for these bikes.
The 690 and 701 have been around for ages, and frankly it’s a crowded parts market.
But here’s the thing.
We’ve been able to observe what lightweight adventure riders have been adding to their stock unicorns.
And what they’ve not.
We’ve had our ear to the ground.
And listened to your frustrations.
“I love the rally nav tower, but I really don’t need all that carbon fibre.”
“I can mount my soft luggage on the back, but it’s a bit of a pain, scratches my plastics and still bounces all over the place.”
It’s these two missing jigsaw pieces that captured our imaginations.
The two areas for improvement that we think will add the most value to riders looking to prep their unicorns for multi-day adventures.
The improvements that we would make to our own unicorn before setting off on a lightweight adventure.

*Hold fire 701 riders. Your bikes are a slightly different shape to the 690 and 700. Our rear luggage racks for the 701 are in production but won’t be launching tomorrow. We are doing our best to get them to you as soon as possible. Hold tight.
