Hi!
This is a story about not standing still.
Its about how looking back can help us figure out how we move forward.
Its about a project that takes everything Adventure Spec has learned over 'here', and applying it over 'there', to create something better.
A better adventure touring experience.
The story started five years ago.
And in a couple of weeks time our new adventure touring gear launches.
Today I'm asking for two minutes of your time to introduce you to our new Gravel Jacket and Pant.
Lets begin.
It's hard to believe, but just a few years ago no one had heard of the Trans Euro Trail. It simply hadn't been invented yet.
The lightweight adventure community existed in the margins, we were out there riding, camping, making memories with friends, but we were the outsiders, the odd balls, the DIY moto enthusiasts.
Now the idea of lightweight ADV is gathering momentum and Adventure Spec is proud to have been part of the founding TET team that has helped write this story.
We have spent over a decade learning what works (and what doesn't), how to layer up like the outdoor folk and make clothing that adds the features you need to stay safe and comfortable on a motorcycle.
The Supershirt turned layering on its head, giving you the freedom to add your CE AA protection first, not last.
Our Linesman Jacket & Pant are built around the idea of comfort and versatility, layering up when it's cold and removing layers when the going gets tough and you start to heat up.
And for colder, wetter trail rides The Singletrack Jacket & Pant add waterproof protection without the weight.
But what if your riding demands more?
More bike.
More speed.
More miles.
Our Dakar project with Lyndon Poskitt pushed the limits of what competitive adventure riding gear could do.
We needed to strike the balance between safety and performance, maximum breathability without sacrificing abrasion or impact protection.
The Mongolia Jacket & Pant met those demands for Lyndon's Dakar campaign twice over.
Our focussed design philosophy created a hot weather adventure riding suit that excelled in desert rallies while also providing tough CE AA protection for the road.
But, there is another way.
Riders who aren't trying to win rally stages.
Riders who don't drop and pick up their lightweight bikes on a regular basis.
Riders who put in the big miles, on bigger bikes, who enjoy the road as much as the dirt.
Riders who might simply mix it up, trails on the weekends and road on the holiday.
Trail, rally and ADV riders are united in our desire to get to those wild places and experience big landscapes, but we are unique in the way we choose to get there.
Five years ago we started a project to see what would happen if we took everything we had learned about lightweight dirt focussed gear and applied it to an adventure touring suit.
We know it's a crowded market.
There's a lot more twin cylinder ADV bikes sitting in garages than lightweight singles.
The adventure rider looking for a touring suit is already well served.
What could Adventure Spec bring to the table?
What do we know that the rider who sits in between dirt and road riding really needs?
Riders with 50/50 tyres on their bikes, who punch out the highway miles, drop onto the twisties at the earliest opportunity, and pick up the trail when the opportunity arises.
What has Adventure Spec learned from becoming experts at making lightweight gear for trail and rally riders, that the adventure tourer can benefit from?
The new Gravel Jacket and Pant is our answer.
I have three more emails to send you as we launch the new Gravel gear.
I know you have questions.
What are the materials, the features, the price?
How does it compare to the rest of our lightweight clothing?
I'll bring you answers.
But today, right now, I just want to let you know that the Gravel Jacket and Pant is coming very soon.
Our new chapter is about to start.
🙂
