Hi!
Steve drove north for 12 hours to go riding for the weekend.
And then it started raining.
It's just that time of year.
If you want bike time, you've got to be prepared for the wet stuff.
But fortunately it doesn't actually mean you need to get wet.
Steve + T700 + Van + blue sky in South West Wales.
Steve + T700 + Friends + rain in Kielder several hundred miles later.
It was moist.
Steve getting to grips with roadbook navigation.
Steve was part of the Adventure Spec Team taking part in RallyMoto's new event, The Big One up in Kielder near the Scottish border.
Think roadbook for beginners, over hundreds of miles of normally-off-limits forest gravel tracks, with a sprinkling of festival good vibes.
It's an excellent weekend, you should give it a go.
I rode with Steve as he dipped his toe into roadbook navigation for the first time.
Not that you could really tell.
It turns out he is quite handy on his T700.
Jim, Steve and Chris prep their simple paper roadbooks.
Fun times on the trails.
Getting fruity on the forest gravel.
His Adventure Spec T700 crashbars were only put to work once (but I missed the shot!).
Now his waterproof gear... that's a different story.
His Singletrack Jacket and Pant earned their keep and then some.
This lightweight gear is designed to be extremely waterproof and be worn over your own protective armour.
Here's how Steve layered up.
Up top he wore his Core Long Sleeve for warmth + Supershirt for CEAA impact and abrasion protection + Baltic Hybrid for warmth + Singletrack Jacket for wind and water protection.
On the bottom he wore his Core Long Leg for warmth + knee armour for protection + Singletrack Pant for abrasion, wind and water protection.
The result was a long weekend of adventure riding in some of the finest gravel on offer here in the UK.
Steve, Chris, Jim and myself rode our Adventure Spec waterproof gear to the limit, testing, learning and providing feedback to our design team and factory.
Steve and Greg celebrate making it to the end staying nice n dry.
And then time to warm up with a drink and music.
Because there's always room to improve.
And if it's going to rain for two days, we might as well put it to good use.
Before the 12 hour drive home.
☔️🙂
